Council
pays
tribute
to Asian
business
leader
A LEADING
member
of east
London’s
Asian
community
has
been
given
a glowing
tribute
by Waltham
Forest
Council.
Jasbir
Singh
Sachar
who
lives
in Barkingside
has
helped
put
hundreds
of small
businesses
on the
road
to success
with
his
Asian
Who’s
Who
directory.
The
book,
which
was
first
published
in 1975
lists
useful
contacts
and
mainstream
organisations
throughout
the
world.
It has
helped
many
local
businesses
especially
with
export
orders.
Former
Waltham
Forest
Mayor,
Councillor
Narinder
Matharoo
said:
“Without
doubt
the
publication
is extremely
comprehensive,
but
it has
one
glaring
omission
–
Jasbir’s
own
entry.
“There
should
be a
major
biography
for
this
high
flier
who
has
worked
for
the
welfare
of the
Asian
communities
for
over
two
decades.”
Tributes
were
paid
to his
work
in creating
a better
environment
for
Asian
culture
and
faiths
during
the
surprise
party
at Walthamstow
Town
Hall
recently.
