Dr. Swraj Paul, Chairman, Caparo Group Ltd; Chairman, Caparo Industries plc; Chairman, Barton Tubes Ltd, Canada; Chairman, Fidelity plc; Chairman; United Merchant Bar plc at Scunthorpe, joined the family-owned Apeejay Surrendra Group in 1952. Came to Britain in 1966. He funds the Jawaharlal Nehru Visiting Professorship (Nehru Group) at Cambridge University and gives the Swraj Paul Scholarship for undergraduate studies at the Massachusettes Institute of Technology. Awards: The Padma Bhushan (equivalent to a British Peerage) by the Government of India in 1983; Honarary Doctorate of Philosophy by the American College of Switzerland, 1986. He got BSc and Msc degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusettes Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA, 1952; Bsc degree in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from Punjab University, 1969.
