Home Secretary's Foreword to the 15th Edition
I am pleased to be able to take this opportunity to support the
publication of the Asian Who's Who directory and the presentation
of the Asian of the Year award.
The government believes that Britain can be a model of a diverse
and integrated society. The UK now has the most comprehensive anti-discrimination
legislation in Europe. But an inclusive, and fair society, depends
on culture and action as well as law. The Government is working
to reduce the barriers - people, communities and business - that
hold people back. But everyone has a part to play.
This directory is a clear recognition of the achievement of British
Asians in all walks of life. The contribution made by British Asians
to the success of the economy and to wider society is to be celebrated,
and the individuals included in this directory are examples of the
best in talent and achievement.
I am particularly pleased to see the increasing number of role
models providing positive examples for young people. This is crucial
to the future we seek for all of us.
Best Wishes
David Blunkett
